Bookable Excursions
Compare whale-watching boats, sea otter cruises, rainforest hikes and the bears-raptors-totems loop through the booking sites we trust. Several of the whale boats carry only six passengers, so book early.
Most Sitka excursions are either small boats on Sitka Sound or vans that link the totem park, the Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear. Several whale boats take only six passengers, so book ahead for busy days. Some tours meet at the cruise terminal and others at Harrigan Centennial Hall downtown, which means a shuttle ride first, so check the meeting point when you book. Our ranking below sorts all 18 by what travelers scored them on the booking sites. Each page gives the trip's length, the price we saw in October 2026 and the review links, and flags tours that are non-refundable or carry limits such as the 230 lb weight cap on one small whale boat. Two oddities worth knowing: the Magic Island snorkel trip hands out 7 mm wetsuits for the cold water, and the private floatplane flight takes off from the cruise terminal itself, so you never need the shuttle.

Walking map: the shuttle stop and downtown Sitka
The free shuttle from the cruise terminal stops at Harrigan Centennial Hall on Harbor Drive, and tenders land at Crescent Harbor beside it. St. Michael's Cathedral and Castle Hill are a few minutes west along Lincoln Street, the Russian Bishop's House is a few minutes east, and the totem trail in Sitka National Historical Park is about 15 to 20 minutes on foot at the east end of the street.
