What we collect, how ads and cookies work here, and your choices.

What we collect
- Email sign-ups: your email address, used to send our newsletter. We never sell your email.
- Saved places: places you save with ♡ are stored in your browser only.
- Weather lookups: the weather tool asks the National Weather Service (weather.gov) for Sitka’s forecast. It sends Sitka’s location, not yours.
- Location (app and website): only if you tap Show where I am, and only after your phone asks your permission. Your location is used on your phone to place you on the map. It is never sent to us or stored. The map background comes from OpenStreetMap, whose servers see which map area your phone loads.
- On your phone only: your all-aboard time, saved places and the pages saved for offline use. Delete them by removing the app or clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
- Reminders: all-aboard alerts are made on your phone. If you add one to your calendar, it goes to your own calendar app; we don’t receive it.
- No account: the app and site need no account, and we don’t track you across other companies’ apps.
- Analytics: we may use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help. It uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed and approximate location.
- Fonts: our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.
Advertising and cookies
We show ads from Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager, and may later work with a managed ad network such as Journey by Mediavine or Raptive. These companies use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure results and, where allowed, personalize ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent tool before personalized ads or analytics cookies are used.
Affiliate links
When you click an affiliate link, the partner (for example Viator or Amazon) may set its own cookie to credit us for a booking or purchase. See our disclosure.
Your choices
You can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for advertising. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. You can unsubscribe from our emails with the link in each one.
Children
The site isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
